Use Layer Masks for Non-Destructive Editing

One of the most powerful features in Photoshop is Layer Masks. Instead of directly erasing or altering parts of an image, layer masks allow for non-destructive editing. With a layer mask, you can hide portions of the layer without permanently deleting any of the image data. This means that you can always come back and modify your changes, giving you much more flexibility and control. To use a layer mask, select the layer, then click the “Add Layer Mask” icon at the bottom of the Layers panel. Paint with black to hide areas, and white to reveal them again. This method ensures that any edits you make are reversible, enabling endless experimentation without fear of ruining your original image. Whether you’re working with a photo or creating a complex design, layer masks are essential tools for maintaining a flexible and non-destructive workflow. Another advantage is that masks are especially useful when working with complex selections or blending multiple images together.
